I offer guitar lessons to students of all ages and skill levels. I have been teaching guitar for almost 7 years and I have developed a simple and effective method to develop your skills and reach your musical goals. I currently have about twenty students ranging from the age of six to sixty five. My musical interests lie with classical, fingerstyle and Latin American guitar. However, I have helped students become proficient in styles such as Metal, Bluegrass, Country, Rock, Samba, Reggae, Ska and Jazz. Whatever style of guitar you’re interested in, my lessons will help you acquire the technical skills and practice habits required to accomplish your musical goals.
What should you expect to learn from my lessons? Most of my students begin to learn easy songs within the first month, and after about three months of lessons I often ask my students to choose songs they would like to learn themselves. Over the course of these first few months you will become familiar with open chords, you will learn how to read and perform basic rhythms, you will learn to read guitar tablature and standard notation and you will be able to sing at least one song. I’ve helped my students learn music by The Beatles, Led Zepplin, The White Stripes, J.S. Bach, Metalica, Jason Mraz and Fernando Sor. With my advanced students I work on music theory, extended techniques, composition and the building of repertoire for auditions and performances.
